What are injection rate deltas?

Could someone please explain what injection rate deltas are?

Hi, I believe it’s the difference in injection rate from one time step to the next. Say you have an injection rate of 6 units at 5pm and 7 units at 6pm, then the delta according to their formula would be of -1 (I could be wrong on the negative sign).
