New Login Procedure

When bring up the Xeek page, I am told that I am using an unrecognized device?? I have only used one computer to access Xeek. I am then told that I have been sent an email with a code to verify my identity. Clearly Xeek at least knows my email. The email is indeed there and entering the code allows entry. Why is this now considered necessary?
